the pier is stretching into a bay of Baltic Sea. it's not a common place where to go for a walk but it's very attractive place in all seasons and it's not safe at all when water level is rising or storm is comming.

what you see below is a long historical story. years ago it was wide known resort place, now it's   slum and nature. if you will come to Riga someday, I would like to take you there.

always there is something first time in your life and this time this was my first time when I was hitchhiking alone for a long distance out of Latvia - 1609 km through all Finland, from Munio up to Riga. I made a short stops in Kilpisjarvi, Munio, Tornio, Oulu, Tampere, Turku and longer one in Helsinki but that is another story. on my way I was very eager to see some works from distinguished Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and one of the works was Paimio Sanatorium (second picture), modern functionalism, designed by architect from all building to smallest details.

first time in my life I saw polar day and shining sun all 24 hours, I took advantage and red a book all night on waterside. after I took a bus to small island and I was surprised. now I know that I wish to go back some day to Norway to explore more its nature and places.

it was train trip in my own company through the Netherlands and Belgium where I was also in Brussels, Antwerp and Brugge. accordingly photos down are icons of the aforesaid cities - Brussels Atomium, Antwerp Central station and the oldest street in Brugge's old town. on that time I also expanded my experience on Couch-surfing community and it was so great.

it was midsummer and public seaside and beach of the Hague. perfect place for spending lazy day with friends or went for a walk.
